ORDINANCE NO. 824
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A CHARGE SYSTEM IN THE CITY OF MEADE,
KANSAS, FOR THE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTE AND REPEALING
ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
WHEREAS, the City of Meade, Kansas, incurs expense associated with
and incidental to the service of the removal and disposal of solid
waste from the City of Meade, Kansas; and
WHEREAS, it is determined and declared to be necessary and conducive
to the public health, safety, welfare, and convenience of the City
of Meade, Kansas, to establish a charge system as shall be
reasonable and sufficient to pay for the expense incurred by the
City of Meade, Kansas, for the removal and the disposal of solid
waste from the City of Meade, Kansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF
MEADE, KANSAS, THAT all single family dwellings, residences, or
businesses within the City of Meade, Kansas, receiving removal and
disposal of solid waste services shall be subject to a user charge
system established as follows:
Section One: All single family dwellings or residences within
the City of Meade, Kansas, shall be charged a monthly rate of
$15.90 per month per dumpster.
Section Two: All businesses within the City of Meade, Kansas,
shall have the option of either purchasing a dumpster from Meade
County or having a dumpster furnished by Meade County.
Section Three: Businesses choosing to purchase a dumpster do so
at a cost of $589.00 for a dumpster, and a monthly dump charge
of $20.28 per dumpster per dump.
Section Four: Businesses choosing to have a dumpster furnished
by Meade County shall pay a fee of $22.00 for a 1 yard dumpster,
$24.50 for a 1 ½ yard dumpster or $32.00 for a 3 yard dumpster
per monthly dump charge.
Section Five: This Ordinance shall be in full force and become
effective with the September, 2010, billing of the City of
Meade, Kansas, and thereupon all other Ordinances or parts
thereof in conflict herewith shall be repealed.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the Governing Body of the City of Meade,
Kansas, this 9th day of August, 2010.
